Canon DR-M260 Review | This A4 document scanner just got better!

With the Canon DR M260, the manufacturers offers the fastest alternative from this family of scanners

Just like its small brothers, it uses the same software and has the same technical specs

We can see an increase in speed, therefore at least in theory, the daily duty cycle should increase.

Canon DR-M260 Datasheet Explained

This device is capable of capturing a surface of 8.27 in x 11.69 in.

A device such as the Canon DR-M260, achieves an optical resolution of 600.

The present scanner, is supplied with a scanning sensor that is CIS.

This scanner can be connected with USB 3.1.

Users can scan at 60 Pages per minute in simplex mode when you use the simplex option.

If you try the duplex scanning mode, 120 Images every minute in duplex should be possible in optimum conditions

Maybe you’ll be surprised to hear that this scanner is optimized for an average Recommended volume of 7,500 pages daily.

When analyzing the standard interface you will notice that the Canon DR-M260 driver functions on Twain and ISIS.

If you have to do roller replacement, then it is expected they have scanned about 600.000 sheets.

Specs for paper handling

Unlike your average multifunction, this machine uses Overlap detection (Ultrasonic sensor), Length detection to prevent it from double feeding pages.

When considering this product, take into account that the ADF size can accomodate up to 80.

When it comes to Document Weight the Canon DR-M260 is capable of handling paper of 7 to 110 lb..

Canon DR-M260 accesories unboxing

When one has worries about the size, they will be 11 x 7 x 7 inches.

The Canon DR-M260 is weighing around 11.5 lbs. This weight doesn’t include any parts that can be applied to the scanner.

In regards to the included software, the Canon DR-M260 has the Capture Perfect, CaptureOnTouch, Kofax VRS.

Features for Productivity

Enable the Automatic Cropping and pages will come out at their original size.

I like the Auto Image Rotate for documents that are not homogenous when it comes to orientation. A mix of portrait and landscape documents will be handled by the Auto Image Rotate mode.

Don’t be worried, the Canon DR-M260 scanning equipment features the Document Auto Color Detection setting, and it’s very easy to use.

I can’t imagine running a scanner without the White page detection . This setting is mandatory on just about any machine and it is available on the Canon DR-M260.

As you’d imagine, the Dual stream scanning is featured in the Canon DR-M260 driver settings. It can be a life saver some of the times.

Quality of images

Gone are the days when post processing of documents is required. With the Background Cleaning option, your documents will have a perfect background.

I preffer using the Image Edge Fill setting for text documents. I would not use it for photos though

Can you trust the Skew Reduction totally? Maybe not, but on the Canon DR-M260 it will work perfectly most of the time.

No more black holes on the side of the paper. Now you can cover them during scanning with the Hole Punch Removal option in the Canon DR-M260 driver.

I really like using Vertical Streaks Reduction on text documents, but the Canon DR-M260 doesn’t feature it.

Extra Features

How good is the Canon DR-M260 for crumpled documents? Just turn on the Feed Paper Manually and check for yourself!

I can’t imagine scanning without Detect Barcodes . It really is a good separation or indexing method.

As you probably know, Automatic Separation of Documents works with Barcodes or Patchcodes.

An Optical Character Reading is standard with this scanner, as you would expect.

For predefined forms I preffer the Zonal OCR , just like with other standardized documents.
