Fujitsu Fi-7260 Review | The #1 aspect that has changed!

We have expected the Fujitsu Fi 7260 color duplex document scanner to come out ever since its younger brother was released

They have taken the already great unit that can scan an A4 document size through an ADF and fitted it with a flatbed scanner

The price has definitely increased over its younger brother, but the scanner features have been kept and the fi7260 flatbed addon is definitely worth it

Fujitsu fi-7260 Datasheet Explained

With a max document size of up to 8.27 in x 11.69 inches, this device will process documents that are slightly bigger than A4.

If you have read other reviews we have made, you will definitely know that most FI scanners will scan at 1200dpi optical resolution. It’s the same thing with the CCD sensor, and you probably know that Fujitsu uses top sensors for its scanners.

I love the fact that this scanner comes with an USB 3.0 connection. If I remember correctly, when it was launched there were only a few devices that offered it.

The scanner has a scan speed of around 60ppm, both for portrait greyscale and portrait bw ( black and white ). When scanning in color duplex, you should be able to output around 120 images every 60 seconds.

I know this might seem like marketing, but the daily duty cycle on one of these devices is around 4000 pages.

The 32 bit and the 64 bit microsoft windows driver uses both an Isis and a Twain interface.

The consumables are easy to replace, and the rollers will last around 200.000 pages.

Specs for paper handling

The Multifeed Detection works in 2 ways and can be activated together or separately. First of all there is the ultrasonic double feed detection sensor. This operates by listening to noises that are different from the normal feeding noises and stops scanning when required.

We also have a basic length detection that will also do the trick, but the intelligent sonic paper protection sensor should always be left on.

Take 80 sheets of plain paper and you will be able to fit them all at once in the automatic document feeder.

The maximum page thickness that the Fujitsu fi-7260 can process is somewhere between 7.2 to 112 lb.

With the Fujitsu fi-7260, you will scan 220 in long documents, with the special Long Document Scanning Mode.

Fujitsu fi-7260 accessories unboxing

When you have concerns regarding the dimensions, they are 12 x 9 x 9 inches. It’s not big but it’s not small also. I think it’s as expected given that it also features a flatbed unit.

The Fujitsu fi-7260 weighs around 19.4 lbs. This weight doesn’t include any parts or optional extras that can be fitted to the scanner. It does include the flatbed unit though.

In the package, you will see the following apps: PaperStream IP, PaperStream Capture, ScanSnap Manager for fi Series, Scanner Central Admin Agent.

In some countries, you will find the manufacturer’s warranty certificate, but in most cases, this will be handled with your invoice or just the serial code.

Features for Productivity

For mixed-size documents, I usually set maximum size and let the Automatic Cropping do its job.

You should also use the Automatic rotation of images for non-specific orientation of documents. The Fujitsu fi-7260 has such a setting and you can set it up in the driver.

One feature I really enjoy in the Fujitsu fi-7260 and other machines is the Auto Color Detection of certain documents. If you haven’t tried it, do it and it will definitely change your life.

I can’t imagine running a scanner without the Blank page detection . This setting is mandatory on just about any machine and it is available on the Fujitsu fi-7260.

The Fujitsu fi-7260 can process documents in different settings in a single job. This is done through the Multi-image output option.

Quality of images

Gone are the days when post-processing of documents is required. With the Smooth Background option, your documents will have a perfect background.

With the Edge Correction on the Fujitsu fi-7260 scanner, your scanned images will look better than your paper documents

Deskew ( Document Alignment ) can be done by enabling this setting in the scanner driver. I can’t see why you would turn it off, as I use it most of the time.

In some cases it might conflict with other special settings on the Fujitsu fi-7260 scanner, such as the long document mode, but usually, it won’t so keep it on.

For punched documents, I always have the Hole Removal setting turned on in the driver.

If you find streaks on your images, check the Streaks Detection setting. It comes as standard on the Fujitsu fi-7260 and it doesn’t come with most other scanners.

Extra Features

How good is the Fujitsu fi-7260 for crumpled documents? Just turn on the Manual Feeding and check for yourself!

Although the Detect Barcodes isn’t the only separation method, I recommend you get it.

Always check if the Auto Separation is free on the scanner. I have seen some manufacturers selling the barcode option.

I can’t imagine this scanner without the Optical Character Recognition setting, as I tend to use it quite a lot these days.

The Field OCR is very popular with users and comes as standard on the Fujitsu fi-7260 scanner.
