Xerox 3220 review | Should you buy it or skip it?

What’s good? The flatbed! Flatbed is super useful. If you’ve been scanning for a while now, you’ll know it. Great OCR, OneTouch scanning

What’s bad? Not the fastest scanner at 46 images / minute

Should I buy this scanner? Integrated flatbed for this price is totally worth it. How much does it cost at the moment?

Xerox 3220 Datasheet Explained

This device is capable of scanning an area of 8.27 in x 11.69 in.

A scanner like the Xerox 3220, operates at an optical resolution of 600.

This device operates with a CIS sensor to perform the scanning.

This scanning machine transfers data through Hi-Speed USB 2.0.

Expect a scanning speed of up to 13 Sheets per minute in simplex mode.

If you try the duplex scanning mode, 26 Images per minute in duplex mode should be possible in optimum conditions

Scanning 1500 documents should not be a problem, given this equipment’s daily Estimated volume.

If you check the interface, you will should know that the device works on Twain, Wia and Ica.

You can assume the feeding tyres to have a life approximately 600.000 office documents.

Specs for paper handling

The Multifeed Detection on the scanner works by using Yes to make sure no double feeds happen.

When considering this product, take into account that the ADF capacity can accomodate up to 50.

The maximum Document thickness that the Xerox 3220 can process is around 16 lb. to 28 lb..

Documents up to 38 in in length, can be processed by the Xerox 3220.

Xerox 3220 accesories unboxing

The space this device takes on your desk is 17.9 x 13 x 5.5 inches.

The Xerox 3220 has a weight of somewhere around 10 lbs. This mass doesn’t include any other extra items that can be applied to the scanner.

When it comes to the delivered scanning applications, the Xerox 3220 has the Visioneer Acuity with DriverPLUS, Visioneer OneTouch, ABBYY FineReader Sprint.

Features for Productivity

For mixed size documents, I usually set maximum size and let the Auto Page Size do its job.

You should use the Automated Rotation of Documents for non specific orientation. The Xerox 3220 has such a setting and you can set it up in the driver.

A nice setting to have is the Auto Color . It is enabled or disabled through the driver of the Xerox 3220.

Affraid of manually removing white pages? Don’t be, as the White page detection is available with the Xerox 3220.

Multi image output is a standard feature on scanners these days, but not on the Xerox 3220. I must say it’s a bit dissapointing.

Quality of images

With the Xerox 3220 you can expect perfectly clean documents. Just enable the Background Smoothing and let it do its magic.

Have you tried using the Document Edge Cleanup for images? If it works correctly for pictures, then keep it enabled on the Xerox 3220 permanently.

Straightening documents automatically is possible with the Xerox 3220. Luckily, the Deskew document feature will allign most images quite well.

Correct Punched Holes is a feature that is not present on the Xerox 3220. I would have preffered it was present.|Would you get a scanner without the Correct Punched Holes feaure as it is the situation with the Xerox 3220.

I preffer using Streaks Detection on text documents, but the Xerox 3220 is missing it.

Extra Features

Sometimes I prefer enabling the Manual Feed Mode from the driver, to make sure the Xerox 3220 will process older documents safely.

Check if your scanner comes with free Detect Barcodes . If not, buy this option or get another scanner who has it.

On the Xerox 3220 the Automatic Separation of Documents setting is missing. That reduces the throughput a lot.

An OCR is standard with this scanner, as you would expect.

I would have loved a Zonal OCR feature. It’s not available on the Xerox 3220 scanner.
