Xerox 6710 scanner | Our honest review

What’s good? Everything about the Xerox DocuMate 6710. It’s fast with 200 pages per minute, it’s precise, it can hold 100 sheets in the tray, has plenty of software and can scan an enormous 35,000 pages / day

What’s bad? These things don’t come cheap

Should I buy it? If you want the biggest and the baddest, yes. Even if you are not scanning as much as it can take, it will prove to be more than reliable for what you need. How much does this powerful scanner cost?

Xerox 6710 Datasheet Explained

In relation to the scanning size, the Xerox 6710 will process documents up to 11.69 x 16.53 in.

A scanner such as the Xerox 6710, operates at a resolution of 600.

If you need to do roller replacement, then most likely they have gone through about 600.000 documents.

To prevent double feeding, this equipment uses an Yes for proper Multifeed Detection.

If you are wondering what the ADF size is, well we can tell you that it is around 300.

This Xerox 6710 scanner, will scan a maximum Document Weight of 5 lb. to 42 lb..

A Long Document Scanning Mode is available with the Xerox 6710 . It can scan documents of up to 100 in in length .

Features for Productivity

Enable the Automatic Cropping and pages will come out at their original size.

I like the Automatic Rotation of Images for documents that are not homogenous when it comes to orientation. A mix of portrait and landscape documents will be handled by the Automatic Rotation of Images mode.

The first productivity feature that we look for is the Auto Color . The Xerox 6710 has this feature and we recommend you use it.

You have probably heard of the Blank document removal setting. Well, it will be available with this scanner so we recommend you enable it.

You will definitely enjoy the MultiStream . It’s a life saver, for clients that are picky with their output


Quality of images

Gone are the days when post processing of documents is required. With the Background Cleaning option, your documents will have a perfect background.

Have you tried using the Page Margin Cleanup for images? If it works correctly for pictures, then keep it enabled on the Xerox 6710 permanently.

One of the images processing functions I like is the Document Allignment feature. Use it and you will not be dissapointed.

No more black holes on the side of the paper. Now you can cover them during scanning with the Hole Removal option in the Xerox 6710 driver.

The Streaks Removal function is often sold on more expensive devices . The Xerox 6710 in question does not have Streaks Removal .


Extra Features

Sometimes I prefer enabling the Manual Feeding from the driver, to make sure the Xerox 6710 will process older documents safely.

I can’t imagine scanning without Barcode Detection . It really is a good separation or indexing method.

Are you currently using the Auto Document Separation ? I really encourage you to try Auto Document Separation with QR codes.

The OCR is mandatory on just about any scanner and the Xerox 6710 comes as standard with it.

Have you worked with Field OCR ? Try it, especially for forms processing.

The Xerox 6710 scans with a CIS sensor, while the Xerox 6440 has a CCD sensor. As we often see it the CCD equipment offers a wider color gamut , and it’s true for our case.

So which scanner can scan a longer sheet of paper? The Xerox 6440 is the one who wins here with a length of 118 in.

So what connectivity ports does each machine offer? Xerox 6710 offers Hi-Speed USB 3.0 while the other document scanner has built-in Hi-Speed USB 2.0 (USB 3.0 compatible).

Maybe you’ve noticed in the datasheet, The Xerox 6460 is able to capture extra-long documents (236 in in length) in comparisson to it’s competitor (100 in in length).

If you look at connection options, one finds Hi-Speed USB 3.0 on the Xerox 6710 and Hi-Speed USB 3.0 (USB 2.0 compatible) on Xerox 6460.

The Xerox 6710 has the upper edge on actual digitization speed. This machine has the power to digitize at 100 sheets in one minute. The other scanner is able to only do 70 sheets in one minute
