What’s so special about it?

IRISCan Executive 4 is a very fast, duplex document scanner. It is compact, lightweight and portable. It can scan 16 images per minute. Its duplex scanning feature makes it very efficient. It offers several image-enhancing features such as automatic deskew, automatic background removal and automatic color detection. It also comes with a resolution of up to 600dpi. It comes bundled with powerful software: Readiris Corporate, Cardiris Corporate 5, IRISCompressor Pro. Readiris Corporate converts scanned images into editable digital files that can be edited using software such as Word or Excel. Cardiris extracts contact information from scanned business cards and exports the data to address books or contact management platforms such as Google Contacts. IRISCompressor Pro converts standard document images into compressed PDF files.

The IRISCan Executive 4 scanner is a very fast duplex scanner. The scan speed is up to 8 pages per minute in simplex mode. This means that it can scan 16 images per minute when scanning double-sided paper documents. This is the average speed for scanners on the market at this price level. It comes with an optical resolution of 600dpi. These are not high precision scanning resolutions by any means but this particular scan resolution is good enough for more than 99% of your scans.

It supports several file formats up to A4 size. It has a maximum document size of 8.5 in. x 32 in. (215 x 812 mm). This means that it can scan documents that are as long as 32 inches( 0.8 meters). It can scan documents whose thickness falls between 16 lb. To 32 lb. (60 – 120 gsm). This enables it to scan documents with varying thickness.

Features for Productivity

The IRISCan Executive 4 scanner supports duplex scanning. This means that when scanning double-sided documents, you will only scan the document once and the scanner will scan both sides. It can scan up to 8 images per minute when in duplex mode.

This sheetfed scanner comes with automatic color detection. This is a great feature because it scans all your documents in color or black and white without you telling them which are color and which are grayscale. Scanning in color creates much larger documents than needed sometimes, that is why it is good to have this feature to optimize the file size.

It does not offer automatic image rotation. This means that the images are stored just as they are captured. For instance, if you capture a document in landscape mode, the image will also be in landscape mode.

This duplex portable scanner is also able to do automatic document size detection. This feature enables the scanner to automatically detect the size of your document and crop the scanned image accordingly. All scanners come with size detection and cropping as standard now.

While a document may have a clean background to the naked eye, when you scan it, the background might not look clean. Quality of images

The IRISCan Executive 4 scanner supports Optical Character Recognition (OCR). This enables it to create editable and searchable files.

It has a 24-bit color depth and an 8-bit grayscale depth when scanning.

This mobile scanner also offers automatic deskew. This ensures that documents that were not scanned straight are aligned accordingly.

It does not offer Punch Hole Removal. This means that when scanning documents that have punch holes, the holes will appear in the scans. This may not affect the quality of the images in any way. Mostly the punch holes do not interfere with the documents’ contents. The punch holes will just appear as small, black circles.

The IRISCan Executive 4 scanner does not come with an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) Tray. This, however, should not be something to worry about since it can compromise the scanner’s portability and weight.

In terms of size, it is 11.4 in. x 1.6 in. x 2.6 in. (27 x 4 x 6.6 cm) putting it in the compact and lightweight category. Another feature that makes it very portable is its weight. The scanner weighs 0.88 lb. (0.4 kg). This may not be the smallest or lightest but considering the fact that the scanner is duplex, this is pretty decent.

It comes bundled with a software software suite that includes Readiris Corporate, Cardiris Corporate 5, IRISCompressor Pro software. Readiris OCR software, the corporate version lets you convert the scanned images into editable digital files that can be edited using software such as Word or Excel. Cardiris lets you quickly scan business cards and extract contact information as well as export the data to address books or contact management platforms such as Google Contacts. IRISCompressor Pro converts standard document images into compressed PDF files. It also includes the unique button manager software for easy document management.
