I have seen the Background Smoothing setting improve with every update of the driver, and it is the same case with the Alaris Kodak i4850 scanner.Have you tried using the Page Margin Cleanup for images? If it works correctly for pictures, then keep it enabled on the Alaris Kodak i4850 permanently.
When you have bad quality paper going through the Alaris Kodak i4850, just keep the Deskew document box active and you should have perfectly alligned pages.
No more black holes on the side of the paper. Now you can cover them during scanning with the Correct Punched Holes option in the Alaris Kodak i4850 driver.
I can’t stress enough how important it is to run the Alaris Kodak i4850 with the Streaks Filtering enabled, especially for standard documents.

How good is the Alaris Kodak i4850 for crumpled documents? Just turn on the Manual Feeding and check for yourself!I can’t imagine scanning without Detect Barcodes . It really is a good separation or indexing method.
