Visioneer Roadwarrior 3 has a scanning speed of 11 images per minute (ipm). Although that is not something impressive, as most scanners with similar price can archive 15 ipm, it is still acceptable and fair.
It’s compatible with A4 documents of 16 lb to 32 lb thickness range- an excellent feature for the price. It boasts of high-resolution scanning of up to 600dpi. With an optical scanning resolution of 300 dpi being considered as normal and 400dpi very good, 600dpi is excellent and guarantees high-quality OCR.
Connectivity is through USB 2.0. What this means is that you can only connect it to PC or laptop, which is not bad, though that is a little lesser than most scanners in its category which do have wifi or ethernet. It has a Twain interface that makes it easy to integrate with more customized scanning apps.
It comes with a CIS sensor that demands that your document must always have firm contact with the scanning surface. Most portable scanners use a CIS sensor, but Larger office scanners tend to use CCD sensors.
.
Features for Productivity
It is manual feed and unable to perform duplex scanning. It ranks with the majority here as only a few portable scanners can perform a duplex function.
It is automatic colour detection enabled. This saves time and stress of having to pre-set the colour each time you want to scan a coloured document. Few products with similar prices do not have this feature.
It also has an automatic image rotation feature, which means that it is capable of deciding the right layout for your document. Even when you mistakenly put the right side left, it will give the proper scan output. Isn’t that amazing? Yes, it is. The majority of scanners with similar price do not come with this property.
Automatic image cropping is another characteristic that sets this scanner at pal with similar products. With this feature, you do not need to worry about image overlap or black part on the edges of your scan. It automatically fit your image to the paper size.
.
Quality of images
Visioneer Roadwarrior 3 is equipped with OCR technology. OCR is a new technology that allows the scanner to export the scanned document into a searchable PDF, Word, Excel, Ebook etc. Almost all new scanners come with this feature.
However, Visioneer Roadwarrior 3, like all other products in this price category, cannot automatically remove punch holes if you care about that. Moreover, it does not automatically align your document; as such, you will need to make sure your paper is positioned straight.
