What’s so special about it?

The Visioneer Patriot P15 is a duplex, portable document scanner. It is small in size and weighs 3.3 lb. (1.5 kg). Besides being a duplex scanner, it comes with an ADF tray that ensures increased efficiency. It is suitable for largescale scanning with a daily duty cycle of 1000 pages. It can scan 40 images per minute and comes with a resolution of up to 600dpi. It offers several image-enhancing features such as automatic color detection, automatic image rotation, and automatic image cropping. It comes bundled with a lot of image-enhancing software such as Visioneer Acuity, Visioneer OneTouch, VISIONEER CAPTURE SE, Visioneer Scan Utility (Mac), ABBYY Fine Reader Sprint, ABBYY Business Card Reader. It is also compatible with Mac and Windows computers.

The Visioneer Patriot P15 scanner is very fast. It can scan up to 40 images per minute. It comes with a resolution of 600dpi. This is not the highest but it is pretty decent.

It can scan different file sizes up to A4 size. It has a maximum document size of 8.5 in. x 118 in. (215 x 2997 mm). This means that it can scan documents that are as long as 118 inches( 2.9meters). It can scan documents whose thickness falls between 16 lb. To 32 lb. (60 – 120 gsm). This enables it to scan very thin documents such as receipts as well as thick documents such as cards.

It supports USB 2.0 connectivity. This will allow you to scan documents directly to your computer via a USB connection. The scanner can be powered by USB or AC power.

It comes bundled with TWAIN, ISIS, WIA, ICA driver interfaces. This makes it easy to integrate the scanner into custom applications. It also comes with a Contact Image Sensor (CIS). This sensor requires the documents to perfectly touch the scanning glass for a perfect scan. This may compromise the image quality when scanning old or crumpled documents.

Features for Productivity

The Visioneer Patriot P15 scanner supports duplex scanning. This means that when scanning double-sided documents, you will only scan the document once and the scanner will scan both sides. This is a great feature as it boosts the scanner’s efficiency.

It offers automatic color detection. This is a great feature, especially when scanning mixed color documents. It enables the scanner to create perfect duplicates.

It offers automatic image cropping. This feature enables the scanner to automatically detect the size of your document and crop the scanned image accordingly.

While a document may have a clean background to the naked eye, when you scan it, the background might not look clean. Most scanners offer background removal to help clean the background. This scanner, however, does not offer this feature and it may compromise the clarity and quality of the images.

Quality of images

The Visioneer Patriot P15 scanner does not offer automatic deskew. Sometimes documents may not be scanned straight due to dirty feed rollers or the operator not aligning the documents correctly. This feature automatically corrects the alignment of the documents and aligns them accordingly.

It does not offer Punch Hole Removal. This means that when scanning documents that have punch holes, the holes will appear in the scans. This may not affect the quality of the images in any way. Mostly the punch holes do not interfere with the documents’ contents. The punch holes will just appear as small, black circles.

It supports Optical Character Recognition (OCR). This enables the scanner to create editable and searchable files.
