Fujitsu SP-1120 Review | Quite affordable but it’s not worth it!

The Fujitsu SP 1120 was built specificaly to be cheap and very easy to use

While the lack of features might seem a bit dissapointing, I can assure you that it’s refreshing from time to time for something just to work

And that’s what the SP line of scanners does really well, they scan without any fuss or complaints.

Fujitsu SP-1120 Datasheet Explained

This machine is capable of digitizing a surface of 8.27 in x 11.69 in.

As with many of the scanning equipment, the Fujitsu SP-1120 will achieve an optical pixels per inch of 600.

The sensor mounted in this equipment is a CIS chip.

This scanner transfers data through USB 2.0.

Expect a scanning speed of up to 20 Sheets per minute in simplex mode.

You will be able to reach 40 Documents per minute in duplex mode when scanning duplex with the Fujitsu SP-1120.

You should expect the consumables to be able to scan approximately 600.000 paper sheets.

Specs for paper handling

Multifeed Detection is a standard feature, with a high quality Overlap detection (Ultrasonic sensor), Length detection to prevent any possible problems.

If you look at the the Size of the ADF of this scanner, you will notice that it can hold 50 pages .

When it comes to Document Weight the Fujitsu SP-1120 is capable of handling paper of 5.4 to 56 lb.

Fujitsu SP-1120 accesories unboxing

The device has a dimmension of 12 x 5 x 5 inches.

The Fujitsu SP-1120 is weighing about 5.5 lbs. This weight doesn’t include any other extra items that can be applied to the equipment.

In the package you will notice the following applications: “PaperStream IP Driver (TWAIN & ISIS), Software Operation Panel, Error Recovery Guide, Presto! PageManager, ABBYY FineReader Sprint, Scanner Central Admin Agent”.

Features for Productivity

For mixed size documents, I usually set maximum size and let the Auto Page Size do its job.

You should use the Automated Rotation of Documents for non specific orientation. The Fujitsu SP-1120 has such a setting and you can set it up in the driver.

Don’t be worried, the Fujitsu SP-1120 scanning equipment features the Auto Color setting, and it’s very easy to use.

As you would expect, you can run this scanner with the White page detection . You can enable it from the driver.

Going through the driver of the MultiStream , you will soon notice it does not feature MultiStream .

Quality of images

Remember the time when you had to use photoshop for scans? Especially on the Fujitsu SP-1120 the Background Smoothing is an image enhancement feature you should use.

I preffer using the Image Edge Fill setting for text documents. I would not use it for photos though

Straightening documents automatically is possible with the Fujitsu SP-1120. Luckily, the Document Allignment feature will allign most images quite well.

Hole Punch Removal is a feature that is not installed on the Fujitsu SP-1120. I would have preffered it was active.|Would you buy a scanner that is missing the Hole Punch Removal setting as it is the situation with the Fujitsu SP-1120.

The Streaks Filtering setting is often sold on higher end equipment . The device we are reviewing here is missing Streaks Filtering .

Extra Features

When scanning fragile documents, this Manual Feed Mode setting will help you scan safely with the Fujitsu SP-1120.

If you wish to operate the scanner with the Bar Code Discovery feature, you ‘ll be in for a shock. The Fujitsu SP-1120 does not have the barcode recognition tool.

On the Fujitsu SP-1120 the Separate Documents Automatically function is missing. That reduces the efficiency a great deal.

I can’t imagine this scanner without the Optical Character Reading setting, as I tend to use it quite a lot these days.

I would have loved a Field OCR feature. It’s not available on the Fujitsu SP-1120 scanner.
