Raven Pro Document Scanner

Raven Pro Document Scanner
A48.5 in. x 11.7 in.Wi-Fi (2.4ghz), Ethernet60120100 sheets6000 sheetsClick for more info
This A4 60 PPM document scanner has a Daily Duty Cycle of 6000 sheets and can scan up to 120
images per minute. The ADF has a higher capacity than all the other scanners featured in this article, holding up to 100
sheets, while the other devices have an automatic document feeder ADF Size of up to 80 sheets only.

Users also love the fact that the Raven Pro Document Scanner does not require a computer to work.Indeed, the 8 inches LED screen offers easier navigation and document editing without a computer. However, the Raven Pro Document Scanner seems to work better with Mac devices than most
scanners, so this could seal the deal for Apple users.

Since it comes with OCR, all scanned documents produce searchable PDFs, even printed or handwritten text.
Though it might not be the best device to scan long documents, the Raven Pro Document Scanner can
scan to Cloud, has a 600 DPI Optical Resolution, is equipped with Wi-Fi (2.4ghz), Ethernet connectivity making this a full network scanner and a simple and intuitive software package.

For instance, it features OCR, advanced image enhancement features like Deskew, Edge Correction, Background Cleaning, Blank Page Detection,
Automatic color detection, Automatic rotation and Automatic Cropping.
The life span of the feed rollers is a little inferior to other 60 PPM scanners featured in this article, with a Feed
Roller Replacement of 150 000 sheets.

Fujitsu fi-7160

Fujitsu fi-7160

As you already know, we like working with Fujitsu scanners, so of course we had to mention the
Fujitsu fi-7160 when it comes to the best 60 PPM scanners of 2020.
It has a decent auto document feeder capacity of 80 sheets and can achieve a 120 images per minute duplex scanning speed. on par with most scanners
featured in this article. The Automatic Document Feeder has an ultrasonic sensor double feed detection, so it will have better feed reliability. The A4 scanner stands out with its 1200 DPI Optical Resolution, which is twice
more than most of its competitors here. It also features a superior Long Document scanning mode,
going up to 220 inches. When scanning paper sizes that long, you need to be careful with paper handling because even the slightest skew can ruin the document at some point and the reverse roller is not going to detect that and just feed the document back to you. We shredded extra long documents in our digitization center and it was not a fun experience.

This duplex scanner does lack Ethernet connectivity, but it features USB 3.0, which is recommended especially for faster
scanners, over 60 pages per minute.
The Daily Duty Cycle of this 60 PPM scanner of 4000 sheets and Scanning area of 8.27 in x 11.69 means that any paper document up to A4 format can be scanned and while the figures are not outstanding, but it
won’t make a big difference and you can still use it without issues.
The Feed Roller Replacement of 200 000 documents scanned is similar to most scanners featured in
this article.
This image scanner is a bit heavy, weighing 9.2 lbs, but the average 60 PPM scanner weighs 9 lbs, so the difference is not big.
On the software side, you will find features for improving the image quality: Deskew, Automatic color detection, Automatic rotation, Blank Page
Detection, MultiStream, Automatic Cropping, Edge Correction, Streaks Correction, Background
Cleaning, Hole Punch Removal, Manual Feed Mode, Document Separation, Barcode Recognition,
regular and Zonal OCR.
Overall, it offers good performance and faster scanning than most devices reviewed in this article.

There is also a neat trick for scanning papers printed by wide format printers, where you can fold the paper into 4 or 8 parts and run each side through the scanner, then the software will stitch it. Useful if you only have a few to scan, but not sustainable with high volumes of documents. This works with sheet fed scanners from the Fi series scanners.

You might also want to consider the Fujitsu Fi-7260 which is basically the same document scanner with flatbed attached to it for a more versatile and advanced paper feeding system.

Epson DS-860

Epson DS-860
A48.27 in x 11.69 inUSB 2.0 Type B, Ethernet (optional)6513080 sheets6,000 sheetsClick for more info
Rated at 65 pages per minute when scanning in color and black & white, the Epson DS-860 is a serious contender for the title of the best scanner that will do 60 PPM in 2020. Featuring an ADF Size of 80 sheets and a straight paper path, this A4 scanner has a Daily Duty Cycle of 6 000 sheets, an Optical Resolution of 600 DPI, 120 inches Long Document scanning mode and will
scan 130 images per minute.

It comes with USB 2.0 Type B, but Ethernet can be added as an option. The scanning area is 8.27 in x 11.69 in, which is more or less the same as the other scanners we reviewed for this article.

The Feed Roller Replacement of 100 000 sheets is not the best, but not the worse either, just like its weight of 8.8 lbs.
This 60 PPM scanner has all the software present on the Fujitsu fi-7160 except for Streaks Correction. You can find a TWAIN, ISIS and WIA driver for this 60 PPM scanner on Epson’s website

Canon DR-M160II

Canon DR-M160II

Canon DR-M160II
A48.27 in x 11.69 inUSB 2.06012060 sheets7,000 sheetsClick for more info
We saved the Canon ImageFormula DR-M160II for the end because we have mixed feelings about this 60 PPM scanner that has a scan speed of 60 PPM. Let’s start with what we like most about this device. The Daily Duty Cycle of 7 000 sheets, 7 lbs weight, Feed Roller Replacement of 200 000 sheets.

Now let’s see what we like a little less, but don’t entirely hate either. The scanning area of 8.27 in x
11.69 in is not exceptional, and neither is the connectivity, featuring only USB 2.0 and a USB cable included. The 60 PPM A4
scanner has an ADF of 60 sheets, features an Optical Resolution of 600 DPI and Long Document
scanning mode of 118.1 inches. While these features are still decent, they are not superior to the
other scanners featured in this article. Because it has a straight-pass scanning system, it can do id card or plastic card scanning without any problems, because ID cards can’t bend and in this scanner they don’t have to.

Same goes for the 120 Images per Minute, which is less than the Epson DS-860, and similar to the
other two scanners we reviewed for this article.
This color duplex desktop document scanner comes image enhancing features like Automatic color detection, Automatic rotation, Blank Page Detection, MultiStream, Automatic Cropping, Edge Correction, Background Cleaning (This is especially useful because it save you a lot of image processing time afterwards), Deskew, Manual
Feed Mode, Document Separation, Barcode Recognition, OCR and Zonal OCR.

The scan software includes: CaptureOnTouch v2, CapturePerfect3.1, eCopy PDF Pro and Kofax VRS 5.1 AIPE.
This last feature is very useful in creating automatic document capture workflows that you can integrate with your document management system. So when you scan an invoice, it knows it is an invoice, extracts the metadata and places is it in its appropriate category. The device is energy-star certified and the power consumption is minimal. This sheet fed scanner comes with a one-year warranty and Canon recommends that you do product registration after purchase. The scanner drivers are also there with TWAIN and ISIS support along with drivers for related products and the user manual.

This scanner will therefore provide quick and clean document scanning, even if it lacks Streaks
Correction. Do note however that only the Fujitsu fi-7160 features Streaks Correction in this article. A one-year warranty is included.

Canon also makes another document scanner you may want to take into consideration, the Canon imageformula dr-m260 with the same 60 PPM speed. The Xerox Documate 6440 is another great device rated at this speed, but only for 200 dpi resolution.

So what is the best document scanner at 60 PPM?

Our favourite 60 PPM scanner is the Raven Pro in terms of usability, user experience and customer satisfaction, but if you need the higher specs, we recommend you go for the Fujitsu. We also wrote reviews on Flatbed Scanners and Portable scanners. For more details, you can check out our website.
