What’s so special about it?

The Clearclik Photo & Document scanner is a handy and lightweight portable scanner that can digitize your documents at up to 1200dpi. It comes with an automatic document feeder that will accept photos and documents up to 47 inches in length and up to 8.5 inches in width. The nice part is that you don’t need a computer to use this machine, it will work without one because it can save all your scans on a MicroSD card, so no confusing drivers required. And the even better part? It comes with a 4GB memory card for the scanner included in the package, so when you unbox the device, you power on the scanner by pressing and holding the power button and then you are all set to scan photos or documents. the Clearclick scanner also comes with a 1.45″ LCD screen which will come in handy when you operate it and will be totally useless when you want to check the quality of a scan. This device also comes bundled with something called DirectScan, an OCR software that will convert your documents into searchable PDFs. You get a 1 year warranty with this device and included tech support directly from ClearClick.

ClearClick Datasheet Explained

The speed of the ClearClick is 12 images per minute. Given that this scanner does not scan duplex (Both sides of a sheet being scanned at the same time), the speed is decent, it’s actually a bit faster than its competitors in the same price range.

It can handle formats up to A4 or Letter, so most of the documents in your office should be handled well. The CCD sensor of the ClearClick is capable of scanning at up to 1200dpi. That’s 600dpi more than you will ever need but it’s always good to have. I would personally recommend running the scanner at 300dpi as the results will be good enough and the scanner is always faster at that speed. If you scan 4×6 photos you can opt for 1200 dpi for the extra detail when scanning your photos.

Even though it doesn’t require a PC to run, of course, you can connect your ClearClick to a computer via its USB port and USB cable and it will function like a Flash Drive, so you will download the photos from the scanner just like you would from your camera.

This Clearclick photo and document scanner doesn’t come with a TWAIN interface, instead, it has a native driver interface. Even though there is no TWAIN, because you can use it as a flash drive can open the possibilities to other cool apps.

One cool feature is that you can scan extra-long documents that are up to 47 inches in length. That’s longer than 4 A4 papers. Photos and plain paper will run through this scanner smoothly, but you should be careful with very thick items such as credit cards.

Features for Productivity

The ClearClick document scanner doesn’t have duplex, but for this price, you can’t expect. Only 1 in 5 scanners at this price point come with duplex scanning included.

But the scanner comes with a host of features from automatic color detection to find out which documents are black & white and which are color to automatic image rotation, where the scanner can automatically rotate the scanned image for you.

You will also find an image cropping feature on the scanner that will automatically remove the black part outside the document or photo itself, leaving you with a clean image. No time will be wasted in photo editing software. .

Quality of images

This scanner can also straighten your digital photos, so if you accidentally run the paper through the automatic feeder and it’s not perfectly straight, the software will straighten it.

As I mentioned before, the people who make the ClearClick have decided to include an OCR feature with this scanner and I am really glad they did that, because most of the portable scanners come with some kind of OCR feature, whether it’s coded in the scanner software, or just bundled as a separate software. You always need something that will convert your scans to searchable PDFs, to Word documents because it will improve your workflow greatly. In this case it is the DirectScan OCR software.

ClearClick accesories unboxing

It’s worth noting that the ClearClick has an automatic feeder but not a document tray. You see these are 2 different things: One is the automatic feeder, which is the automated mechanism that runs the document through the scanner and the other one is the tray, a space in which you can stack papers, so that the scanner can automatically scan each one of them without you having to intervene. This scanner has an ADF but without a tray. And again, I can’t blame them because for this price, only 1 in 5 scanners have one.

The weight of the ClearClick is on par with the rest of the scanners in its price class: 0.9 lbs whereas the average is 0.78, so not great not terrible.

This device comes with a document scanning software called DirectScan Pro which can save the digital photos to JPG or PDF format.

The big minus for this scanner is that it runs on three AA batteries. No lithium-ion here in this portable photo scanner, you have to load batteries from the store. If you need to scan and convert 35mm photo slide and negatives to digital, ClearClick also makes a 22mp film scanner called the clearclick photo2digital scanner. You can also convert film negatives and slides with all Epson Flatbed scanners with the exception of the epson perfection V39 color photo scanner and the V19 but this digital photo slide scanner is much more productive. There is also the ClearClick 20 MP QuickConvert negative scanner.

This manufacturer also makes the Clearclick Video to digital converter which converts signal from VHS, Camcorders to digital format. If you have a look at our homepage, you will find the articles where we have reviewed related products where we provide a large amount of product information. .

What do real users say?

Users love how quick the scanner runs and the scan-to-microsd functionality. People have reported that the battery will last for 400-500 scans, depending on the resolution and some other variables. People warmly recommend that you invest in rechargeable batteries. Most of the people who bought this, use it to digitize the family pictures collection. Photos are the most demanding scans for any scanner (those and dark gradients, they are a huge problem) and the ClearClick scanner seems to handle them well.
