Epson DS-870 Datasheet Explained

Features for Productivity

While this is something normal these days, the Epson DS-870 has the Automtic Page Size Detection function. Keep it enabled for most scanning jobs.

The driver of the the Epson DS-870 offers Auto Image Rotate , and it is easy to use it.

It’s always a nice thing to have colored documents detected automatically. A Epson DS-870 offers this function as standard through its driver.

When was the last time you had to remove blank pages manually? The Epson DS-870 will do this automatically, when you use the Blank document removal function.

You will definitely enjoy the MultiStream . It’s a life saver, for clients that are picky with their output

Quality of images

I have seen the Background Removal setting improve with every update of the driver, and it is the same case with the Epson DS-870 scanner.

Sometimes the Edge Correction function might not work correctly. For the Epson DS-870 with colored images.

Deskew document can be done by enabling this setting in the scanner driver. It will only conflict with other special settings on the Epson DS-870 scanner from time to time, so keep it on.

When was the last time you had Correct Punched Holes turned off? Personally, I can’t remember when that was.

The Streaks Detection feature is usually installed on higher end scanners . The Epson DS-870 we are reviewing here is missing Streaks Detection.

Extra Features

Sometimes I prefer enabling the Feed Paper Manually from the driver, to make sure the Epson DS-870 will process older documents safely.

Check if your scanner comes with free Barcode Detection . If not, buy this option or get another scanner who has it.

Always check if the Automatic Separation of Documents is free on the scanner. I have seen some manufacturers selling the barcode option.

It’s safe to say that Optical Character Recognition is something no scanner should miss. Scanning is not possible without it today.

Would you scan forms without the Field Indexing module? I enjoy the Field Indexing setting too much not to use it.
