Features for Productivity

Your batch of documents has different sized documents? The Automatic Cropping will sort that for you.

You should use the Auto Image Rotate for non specific orientation. The Brother PDS-5000F has such a setting and you can set it up in the driver.

It’s always a nice thing to have colored documents detected automatically. A Brother PDS-5000F offers this function as standard through its driver.

I can’t imagine running a scanner without the Blank page detection . This setting is mandatory on just about any machine and it is available on the Brother PDS-5000F.

Going through the driver of the MultiStream , you will soon notice it does not feature MultiStream .

Quality of images

Remember the time when you had to use photoshop for scans? Especially on the Brother PDS-5000F the Background Cleaning is an image enhancement feature you should use.

Have you tried using the Page Margin Cleanup for images? If it works correctly for pictures, then keep it enabled on the Brother PDS-5000F permanently.

Straightening documents automatically is possible with the Brother PDS-5000F. Luckily, the Document Allignment feature will allign most images quite well.

For standard documents, I always have the Perforated Page Correction setting turned on in the driver.

The Streaks Filtering setting is usually installed on bigger devices . The scanner in question does not have Streaks Filtering .

Extra Features

Can you use the Brother PDS-5000F to scan really old documents? It should work if you enable the Manual Feed Mode settings.

Although the Barcode Detection isn’t the only separation method, I recommend you get it.

On the Brother PDS-5000F the Automatic Separation of Documents feature is missing. That drops the throughput a lot.

It’s safe to say that Optical Character Recognition is something no scanner should miss. Scanning is not possible without it today.

The Brother PDS-5000F does not come with the OCR Predefined Zone feature.
