What’s so special about it?

The VuPoint Magic Wand is a portable, handheld scanner with a docking station. It is a 2-in-1 scanner. It comes with a handheld wand and the docking station which makes it a single-sheet auto-feed scanner for increased accuracy. The Auto-Feed Dock can scan up to 1200 dpi for high resolution and the hand-held scanner can scan up to 900 dpi. The docking station is powered by a built-in Lithium Polymer rechargeable battery that lasts up to 400 scans on a full charge. The handheld wand is powered by 2 AA alkaline batteries. It is also compatible with MicroSD and MicroSDHC. It scans directly to the memory card. It offers very high resolution and comes with a built-in color LCD panel to preview scans. It is very fast – it can scan 40 images per minute.

VuPoint Magic Wand Datasheet Explained

The VuPoint Magic Wand is very fast with a speed of 40 images per minute. At this price, this speed is outstanding since most scanners in its class scan up to 20 images per minute.

It is capable of scanning up to A4 size documents. The handheld wand can be used to scan bound documents such as books that can not be fed into an ordinary scanner. It can scan documents to a maximum size of 8.5 x 98 in. (215 x 2489 mm) This means that it can comfortably scan documents that are as long as 2.48 meters.

The handheld wand has a resolution of up to 900 dpi. When the wand is attached to the docking station, the scanner’s resolution rises to 1200 dpi. It supports Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connections. The USB connection is mainly used for charging the battery.

It comes with a Native Driver Interface. This may make it difficult to integrate the scanner directly with custom applications.

It comes with a Contact Image Sensor(CIS) sensor. This requires documents to perfectly get in contact with the scanning glass to achieve a perfect scan. This may make it a little difficult to scan crumpled documents clearly.

When using the scanner with the docking station, the paper thickness may be limited. However, with the handheld wand, you can scan literally anything as long as it is flat. You can scan a wide range of items ranging from plain paper to books and fabrics.

.

Features for Productivity

The VuPoint Magic Wand is a simplex scanner. This means that it does not support duplex scanning. When scanning double-sided documents, you may need to turn the documents manually.

It comes with automatic color detection. This is a great feature, especially when scanning mixed color documents. It enables the scanner to create great duplicates.

It does not support automatic image rotation. This means that the scans are stored just as they are scanned. For instance, if you scan a document in portrait mode, the scan will also be in portrait mode.

It, however, does come with automatic Image cropping. The scanner automatically detects the size of your document and crops the scan accordingly.

This scanner does not offer background removal. However, with its high resolution, the contents of the documents can be clear regardless of the background.

The VuPoint Magic Wand does not support automatic Deskew. Automatic Deskew is a feature that aligns documents that were not scanned straight. This, however, should not be a worry since you can use the handheld wand and ensure proper alignment when scanning documents.

It does not remove punch holes. This means that when scanning documents that have punch holes, the holes will appear in the scans. However, when using the handheld wand you can avoid scanning over the punch holes.

It supports Optical Character Recognition. This enables it to create searchable PDF files. This is a great feature, especially when organizing the scanned documents. It is easy to find files and store them appropriately..
