Features for Productivity

For mixed size documents, I usually set maximum size and let the Automatic Cropping do its job.

I like the Automated Rotation of Documents for documents that are not homogenous when it comes to orientation. A mix of portrait and landscape documents will be handled by the Automated Rotation of Documents mode.

A nice setting to have is the Auto Color . It is enabled or disabled through the driver of the Epson DS-50000.

When was the last time you had to remove blank pages manually? The Epson DS-50000 will do this automatically, when you use the Blank document removal function.

I just love the Dual stream scanning spec. It allows me to output files in color, black and white or grayscale in the same job

Quality of images

With the Epson DS-50000 you can expect perfectly clean documents. Just enable the Background Removal and let it do its magic.

I preffer using the Image Edge Fill setting for text documents. I would not use it for photos though

One of the images processing functions I like is the Document Allignment feature. Use it and you will not be dissapointed.

Black dots on the side of the document? Tick the Hole Removal box and your Epson DS-50000 scanner will fill them automatically.

The Streaks Removal function is most often installed on more expensive scanners . The scanner we are reviewing here is missing Streaks Removal .

Extra Features

Should you use the Feed Paper Manually mode with this machine? I would say it works well on the Epson DS-50000 scanner.

I’ve started indexing through Barcode Recognition for some time now, most often using QR codes. This scanner has Barcode Recognition , but check if it’s optional or standard.

Always check if the Separate Documents Automatically is free on the scanner. I have seen some manufacturers selling the barcode option.

I can’t imagine this scanner without the Optical Character Recognition setting, as I tend to use it quite a lot these days.

The Zonal OCR is very popular with users and comes as standard on the Epson DS-50000 scanner.
