Brother ADS-3600W Datasheet Explained

As with the majority of the scanning devices, the Brother ADS-3600W can scan a true dots per inch of 600.

The present equipment, is using a capture sensor that is CIS.

Gigabit Ethernet, Wireless, WiFi and SuperSpeed USB 3.0 is what this equipment is connected through .

The maximum Sheets per minute in simplex mode for this scanner, should be at 50 .

If you try the duplex scanning mode, 100 Images per minute in duplex mode should be possible in optimum conditions

Scanning 5,000 pages is what the manufacturers claims to this scanners daily Recommended volume.

The Brother ADS-3600W works with Twain, Sane, Wia, Ica and Isis industry standard interface.

If one has to replace consumables, then it is expected they have scanned about 600.000 sheets.

Specs for paper handling

The Overlap detection (Ultrasonic sensor) will take care of the Multifeed Detection, and prevent the feeding of 2 pages at the same time.

When considering this product, take into account that the Capacity of the ADF can accomodate up to 50.

Scanning documents of 11 lb. to 110 lb is possible with the Brother ADS-3600W.

Digitizing 196 in long documents is easy with the Brother ADS-3600W, given that it uses a Long Document Scanning Mode feature.

If you have worries about the size, they will be 12 x 10.15 x 9.8 inches.

The Brother ADS-3600W is weighing around 9.8 lbs. This value doesn’t involve any other extra items that can be applied to the scanner.

When it comes to the delivered software, the Brother ADS-3600W comes with the ABBYY FineReader Professional, ABBYY PDF Transformer+, Nuance PaperPort 14 SE, Control Center 2 & 4.

Features for Productivity

I love using the biggest scanning size and just enable the Auto Page Size, especially for mixed documents.

You should use the Auto Image Rotate for non specific orientation. The Brother ADS-3600W has such a setting and you can set it up in the driver.

The first productivity feature that we look for is the Automatic Color Detection . The Brother ADS-3600W has this feature and we recommend you use it.

When was the last time you had to remove blank pages manually? The Brother ADS-3600W will do this automatically, when you use the Blank page detection function.

MultiStream is a standard feature on scanners these days, but not on the Brother ADS-3600W. I must say it’s a bit dissapointing.

Quality of images

The Background Smoothing is a must have feature with any scanner and the Brother ADS-3600W scanner has it as standard.

Have you tried using the Document Edge Cleanup for images? If it works correctly for pictures, then keep it enabled on the Brother ADS-3600W permanently.

When you have bad quality paper going through the Brother ADS-3600W, just keep the Straightening Image box active and you should have perfectly alligned pages.

For standard documents, I always have the Hole Removal setting turned on in the driver.

The Vertical Streaks Reduction feature is often installed on bigger equipment . The scanner we are talking about is missing Vertical Streaks Reduction .

Extra Features

How good is the Brother ADS-3600W for crumpled documents? Just turn on the Manual Feeding and check for yourself!

Although the Barcode Recognition isn’t the only separation method, I recommend you get it.

On the Brother ADS-3600W the Separate Documents Automatically setting is not present. That drops the efficiency a lot.

When was the last time you bought a scanner without Optical Character Reading . A long time ago for sure.

I would have loved a OCR Predefined Zone feature. It’s not available on the Brother ADS-3600W scanner.

But which one of these can capture a larger document? The Brother ImageCenter ADS-2800W. It can scan a surface of A4 or 215.9 mm x 355.6 mm ( 8.5 in. x 14.0 in.) meanwhile the other is only able to digitize a surface of 8.27 in x 11.69 in.

Regarding the optical sensor, the Brother ADS-3600W and the Brother ImageCenter ADS-2800W have the same type, a CIS sensor.

If we look at of which one of these document scanners can scan longer documents, it’s the Brother ImageCenter ADS-2800W that shows up as a clear winner here. It can scan scan documents of up to 215.9 mm x 5,000 mm ( 196.9 in. ) in length, while it’s competitor is only able to scan documents of up to 196 in.

So what connection interfaces does each document scanner have? Brother ADS-3600W has Gigabit Ethernet, Wireless, WiFi and SuperSpeed USB 3.0 while the other document scanner provides Gigabit Ethernet, Hi-Speed USB 2.0 or Wifi.

If we look at actual digitization speed, the Brother ADS-3600W can scan at 50 sheets in one minute meanwhile the other ADF scanner can only reach 30 ppm.
