The Images/Minute for this scanner is 16 IPM. Most portable scanners that have a similar price have a Images / Minute of 16 images/minute. The scanner supports wide formats up to A4 in size. Manufacturers use the ISO Format ( A3, A4, etc.) to define the scanning area. In most cases, the actual scanning size might be slightly larger than the ISO format.

The scanning resolution is up to 600 dpi. This is pretty good image quality. A scanner capable of 600dpi can provide an excellent scanning resolution.

The scanner provides Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connection through which users can connect it with their laptops or PCs.

The driver interfaces that this scanner has are TWAIN and ISIS. These drivers can easily be integrated into a customized application. Most of the scanners for this price do not work through ISIS so this scanner has a plus point here.

The maximum document size that Canon imageFORMULA P-208II can scan is 8.5 in. x 14 in. (215 x 355 mm). As the scanner has A4 format so it can scan documents slightly larger than 210 x 297 mm.

This scanner doesn’t provide a CCD sensor type. The CCD is considered to be superior, as it does not require perfect contact with the document to be able to scan the document clearly. It can also capture documents that are crumpled or wavey. Most of the other scanners that come at a similar price have both CCD and CIS sensor types. This scanner only has CIS. The CIS or contact image sensor usually requires the document to touch the scanning glass perfectly to achieve a perfect scan. CIS sensors are cheaper and lighter in weight.

Paper thickness ranges from 14 lb. To 56 lb. (20.72 – 82.88 gsm) for this paper scanner. This is an amazing range as sometimes you also have to scan thicker documents. Also, the larger the thickness that the scanner allows for, the easier it is to scan documents that are damaged or are in a bad condition..

Features for Productivity

This scanner has a duplex scanning (ability to scan both sides of a document at the same time). This increases the productivity of the scanner and reduces time and effort for any user.

It also offers Automatic Color Detection. This feature lets you scan without any color preset. It’s a great feature when you have mixed color documents, and you don’t want to manually change between settings.

However, this product doesn’t have Automatic Image Rotation. Only a few of the scanners with a similar price have Automatic rotation. Automatic Image Rotation helps when the documents are in portrait and landscape.

Another feature that this scanner provides is Automatic Image Cropping. This feature is necessary as the documents are not always A4 or A3. Therefore, scanners offer this function so that you can scan the entire surface, and the driver of the scanner automatically detects the size of your document and crops the scan accordingly.

There is a Background Removal feature that this scanner also provides. When you scan the document the background might not look clean.

Quality of images

There is a software feature called Automatic Deskew that this scanner supports. This features works like an algorithm that calculates automatically the correct alignment of the paper and aligns it accordingly.

It doesn’t support Punch Hole Removal but this is fine because other portable scanners with a similar price don’t have this feature.

OCR ( Optical Character Recognition ) is included in this scanner that creates a searchable document and also used to create Excel files, ebooks, etc. .

There is an ADF(Automatic Document Feeder) tray in the scanner where you can stack documents, and the scanner feeds them automatically during the scanning process.

This scanner is sized by 12.3 in. x 1.5 in. x 2.2 in. (31.2 x 3.8 x 5.5 cm). It only weighs 0.58 kg. It can easily be moved and take less space on the desk.

The included software are Canon CaptureOnTouch, CaptureOnTouch Lite (built-in), NewSoft Presto! BizCard and Evernote. .
