Being an accountant, means that you will be scanning various documents, starting from receipts, checks, invoices and also A3 construction drawings ocasionally
I think that besides lawyers, our customers that work in the accounting industry, have the toughest documents to scan, as everybody brings them documents from different sources.

Let’s have a look at each product in particular.
Kodak Alaris E1035

Kodak Alaris E1035 | A4 | 8.27 in x 11.69 in | USB 2.0 | 35 | 70 | 80 sheets | 4,000 sheets | Click for more info |
This scanner is probably the lowest in price out of all 6. It will capture a dimension of 8.27 in x 11.69 in, making it suitable for most documents, such as invoices or contracts.
While this scanner is working with a CIS sensor, there is no need for an expensive CCD scanner in an accounting office. Even if you have to scan images or photos, these will be just fine.
The USB 2.0 is good enough for this scanner, considering the low speed it has. Even at 35ppm, it will keep up with the data transfer. Also, if you buy this scanner we assume that you don’t have a large volume of invoices to scan.
As mentioned, the speed will reach around 35ppm or 70 images per minute when scanning duplex. I would recommend to scan in duplex and activate the empty page removal feature.
Documents up to 118 inches in length, can be processed by the Kodak Alaris E1035 without any issue. We have seen some strange statements with a standard with and a very long length.
Kodak Alaris S2040

Kodak Alaris S2040 | A4 | 8.27 in x 11.69 in | USB 3.1 | 40 | 80 | 80 sheets | 5,000 sheets | Click for more info |
This scanner, just like the E1035 is capable of capturing a surface of 8.27 in x 11.69 in, or an A4 document.
Just like the cheaper alternative, this scanner is operating with a CIS sensor. Contracts, accounting documents, invoices, and statements will pass through just fine.
This scanner is connected through USB 3.1. It is the main reason why we think you could buy this instead of the E1035 Alaris scanner.
Also, at 40ppm it’s a bit faster than the other scanner, so you can also achieve a small step up in terms of productivity.
On the software side, with the Kodak Alaris driver, you are getting just about any feature in terms of image processing capabilities.
Fujitsu fi-7700
Product | Format | Scanning area | Connectivity | Sheets per minute | Images per minute | ADF Size | Daily Duty Cycle | Price |

Data is transferred through a USB 3.0 port, meaning the data transfer speed will keep up with the physical scanning speed of the machine.
We only recommend this model if the budget allows it and if you are scanning a lot of invoices and statements on a daily basis.
It also features a long document scanning mode which is great for those really narrow but long documents, such as statements or payment records.
Brother ADS-2700W

What we like about this choice of scanner is the fact that it does pretty much everything the Kodak Alaris E1035 model does, such as A4 scanning at a decent speed, but also has a trick up its sleeve.
The major selling point of this model is the wireless scanning. Yes, you can scan and send directly to other devices, such as tablets and smartphones. Also, you can immediately send documents to your customers, copies of statements and even scans of invoices they can’t find.
The variety of choices when it comes to connectivity is astounding. Either you connect it through a USB port and make it the perfect small desktop scanner. Or, you can transform it into a digital sender by connecting it through Ethernet or wireless.
When you look at the scanning speed, yes, it’s not faster than an entry-level Kodak Alaris E1035. But for those with a smaller budget and a need for wireless scanning, this is a very good choice.

This machine offers a CCD sensor and a USB 3.0 connectivity. Not to mention the fact that it will process around 60 pages per minute and 120 images in duplex.
Editors Opinion
From our point of view, there are quite a lot of good options if you are an accountant.
You could try the Kodak Alaris E1035 if you are limited by your budget. This will do most of the scanning you need, such as invoices, contracts and other financial statements you have.
What we would recommend is to also look at the Brother ADS-2700W as it can do what the Kodak does, plus it can also scan to wireless devices such as PC, email or even smartphone or tablets.
If you have a larger budget and you also want to scan documents that are larger than A4, then go for the FI 7460 scanner. This Fujitsu is probably the cheapest A3 scanner you can get, currently on the market.
If you want to do high volume invoice scanning, then go for the Fujitsu FI 7700. This will breeze through large batches of invoices, contracts and other financial statements you might have.
