The Scansnap ix500 has a scanning area of A4 – 216 x 360 mm (8.5 x 14.17 in.).This specific machine operates with a CIS sensor to perform the scanning.
Wireless and USB 2.0, 3.0 is what this equipment connects with .
If you’re curious how many Pages per minute in simplex mode can be achieved, the manufacturer claims the number to be 25.
If you try the duplex scanning mode, 25 Images per minute in duplex mode should be possible in optimum conditions
Scanning 400 documents should not be a problem, given this equipment’s daily Duty cycle.
You should assume the rollers to be able to scan about 600.000 paper sheets.
Paper Handling
Multifeed Detection is a standard feature, with a high quality Ultrasonic double-feed detection sensor to prevent any possible problems. If you look at the the ADF capacity of this scanner, you will notice that it can hold 50 pages .
When it comes to Document thickness the Scansnap ix500 is capable of handling paper of 40 to 209 g/m2 (11 to 56 lb).

Productivity features
Enable the Automatic Cropping and pages will come out at their original size. You should use the Automated Rotation of Documents for non specific orientation. The Scansnap ix500 has such a setting and you can set it up in the driver.
It’s often a good thing to have color pages identified automatically. A Scansnap ix500 scanner will let you use this function easily.
Affraid of manually removing white pages? Don’t be, as the Blank page detection is available with the Scansnap ix500.
It’s still strange to think the Scansnap ix500 does not have Multi image output . It’s a bad surprise from my point of view.
Features for Image Quality
Gone are the days when post processing of documents is required. With the Background Cleaning option, your documents will have a perfect background.Sometimes the Image Edge Fill function might not work correctly. For the Scansnap ix500 with colored images.
When you have bad quality paper going through the Scansnap ix500, just keep the Straightening Image box active and you should have perfectly alligned pages.
Hole Removal is a setting that is missing on the Scansnap ix500. I would have hoped it was available.|Would you purchase a device without the Hole Removal function as it is the case with the Scansnap ix500.
If you find streaks on your images, check the Streaks Filtering setting. It comes as standard on the Scansnap ix500.
Extra Features
Should you use the Manual Feeding mode with this machine? I would say it works well on the Scansnap ix500 scanner. If you wish to use the equipment with the Barcode Detection setting, you will not be happy. The Scansnap ix500 is not delivered with the barcode recognition tool.
On the Scansnap ix500 the Automatic Separation of Documents setting is not present. That decreases the efficiency significantly.
I can’t imagine this scanner without the Optical Character Recognition setting, as I tend to use it quite a lot these days.
Usually, the Field Indexing is available either or on expensive scanners or expensive software. The Scansnap ix500 is missing this feature.
