Home Zone EZSCAN1000-BL Datasheet Explained

The Home Zone EZSCAN1000-BL scanner can scan up to 5 images per minute. This is quite slow compared to other portable scanners. It, however, has a high resolution of 900dpi.

It can scan a variety of documents up to A4 size. It has a maximum document size of 8.27 x 11.69 in (210 x 297mm). This means that it can scan documents that are as long as 29.7cm. This is very small compared to other portable scanners that can scan over 100cm.

It supports USB connectivity. This allows you to transfer the scanned images to your computer via a USB connection. It also comes with an SD card slot that allows you to store scanned images in an SD card.

It comes with a native driver interface. This can make it difficult to integrate the scanner into custom applications. It also comes with a Contact Image Sensor (CIS). This sensor requires the documents to perfectly touch the scanning glass for a perfect scan. This may compromise the image quality when scanning old or crumpled documents.

Features for Productivity

The Home Zone EZSCAN1000-BL scanner is a simplex scanner. This means that it does not support duplex scanning. When scanning double-sided documents, you may need to turn the documents manually. This may, therefore, make it unsuitable for large-scale scanning.

It comes with automatic color detection. This is a great feature, especially when scanning mixed color documents. It enables the scanner to create great duplicates.

It does not offer automatic image rotation. This means that the images are stored just as they are captured. For instance, if you scan a document in landscape mode, the image will also be in landscape mode.

It offers automatic image cropping. This feature enables the scanner to automatically detect the size of your document and crop the scanned image accordingly.

While a document may have a clean background to the naked eye, when you scan it, the background might not look clean. Most scanners offer background removal to help clean the background. This scanner, however, does not offer this feature and it may compromise the clarity and quality of the images.

Quality of images

The Home Zone EZSCAN1000-BL scanner offers automatic deskew. This is a great feature that ensures documents that are not scanned straight are aligned accordingly.

It does not offer punch hole removal. This means that when scanning documents that have punch holes, the holes will appear in the scans. This may not affect the quality of the images in any way. Mostly the punch holes do not interfere with the documents’ contents. The punch holes will just appear as small, black circles.

The Optical Character Recognition is mandatory on just about any scanner and this scanner comes with it. The OCR enables the scanner to create searchable PDF files. This is a great feature, especially when organizing the scanned documents..

Home Zone EZSCAN1000-BL accesories unboxing

The Home Zone EZSCAN1000-BL scanner comes with an Automatic Document Feeder tray. This is a great feature since it can allow you to automatically feed and scan several documents. This has compromised the scanner’s weight. However, the scanner can be used as a handheld wand without the ADF docking station. This makes it lighter and more portable.

In terms of size, it is 11 in. x 2.2 in. x 3 in. (27.9 x 5.5 x 7.5 cm). This makes it portable. Another feature that makes it portable is its weight. The scanner weighs 1 lb. (0.45 kg). It can be lighter when the scanner is detached from the automatic feed docking station.

It is a plug-and-play device and it does not come with any complex software. However, you can still use third-party scanning software that can allow you to control and use the scanner as needed.
