Features for Productivity
I love using the biggest scanning size and just enable the Automatic Cropping , especially for mixed documents.You should use the Automatic Rotation of Images for non specific orientation. The Epson DS-410 has such a setting and you can set it up in the driver.
Don’t be worried, the Epson DS-410 scanning equipment features the Automatic Color Detection setting, and it’s very easy to use.
When was the last time you had to remove blank pages manually? The Epson DS-410 will do this automatically, when you use the White page detection function.
Thinking of using the Multi image output function? Go ahead, as it is standard on the Epson DS-410.
Quality of images
Gone are the days when post processing of documents is required. With the Smooth Background option, your documents will have a perfect background.Have you tried using the Page Margin Cleanup for images? If it works correctly for pictures, then keep it enabled on the Epson DS-410 permanently.
When you have bad quality paper going through the Epson DS-410, just keep the Document Allignment box active and you should have perfectly alligned pages.
For standard documents, I always have the Perforated Page Correction setting turned on in the driver.
I preffer using Streaks Detection on text documents, but the scanner here doesn’t feature it.
Extra Features
When scanning fragile documents, this Manual Feeding setting will help you scan safely with the Epson DS-410.What I love about the Detect Barcodes modules, are the QR code recognition features. It makes for flawless scanning.
As you probably know, Auto Document Separation works with Barcodes or Patchcodes.

The Epson DS-410 operates with a CCD sensor, while the Scansnap ix500 has a CIS sensor. Most often the CCD equipment offers a wider color gamut , and it’s the same in this case.
Maybe you’ve noticed in specifications, The Scansnap ix500 can capture longer documents (863 mm or 34 in. (Duplex), 1,726 mm or 68 in. (Simplex) in length) in comparisson to it’s competitor (120 in in length).
