Although the touchscreen is a bit small and there is no cloud support, we love the fact that it feeds reliably through it’s document feeder ADF
This document scanner with touchscreen has a great price, therefore you should consider it next time when you are in the market for such a scanner

Brother ADS-2700W Datasheet Explained
The Brother ADS2700W highspeed wireless document scanner is your tipical A4 scanner, with a paper size of around 8.27 in x 11.69 in.
As with many of the scanning devices out there, the Brother ADS-2700W fits within the 600dpi optical resolution target.
Just like other cheap document scanners out there, it only comes with a CIS sensor, which means ok for documents, not so good for high quality images.
Regarding the network protocols, the machine has a Fast Ethernet connection, Wireless scanning and Hi-Speed USB 2.0, which means lots of scanning modes, to suit everyone’s needs. You can now even scan to USB flash drive.
Checking through the user guide you will see that besides the various scanning functionalities and connection possibilities, you can also use the drivers through Twain, Wia and Sane, not to mention the Ica protocol.
This wireless highspeed desktop scanner will reach approximately 35ppm when you use the simplex setting and double that when you use the duplex mode.
The daily duty cycle reaches around 3,000 documents, therefore, you are good to go for most of your basic requirements and even a low volume project from time to time.
We estimate that the consumables roller kit will last around 200.000 pages if you use them mostly with regular paper sheets.
Specs for paper handling
Multi feeds are monitored using an advanced ultrasonic sensor. This detects the documents overlapping and stops the scanning immediately.
The automatic document feeder ADF works quite well, and will hold around 50 bond paper sheets.
I love the fact that you can use a variety of paperweights with this highspeed desktop document scanner. Ranging from 11 lb. to 110 lb. will satisfy most of your needs. You can also use it with a carrier sheet.
Looking at the maximum document length, this reaches almost 200 inches, 197 to be more precise. This is enough to scan even the lengthy documents you find in the oil industry.
When it comes to Sheet thickness the Brother ADS-2700W is capable of handling paper of 11 lb. to 110 lb.
A Long Document Scanning Mode is available with the Brother ADS-2700W . It can scan documents of up to 196 in in length .
Brother ADS-2700W accesories unboxing
On your desk this should not take more than 12 by 6 by 7 inches, which we think is relatively small.
Checking the weight of this machine and you should not be over 6 lbs. Of course, this won’t include the optional equipment.
Brother sells this scanner with windows, mac and Linux drivers. I don’t know about the mac and Linux drivers. This was always problematic, even with scanners from other manufacturers so I would not be so sure.
There are other software apps included with the scanner, and some of them will introduce you to the world of document management. From Nuance Paper Port to Presto! PageManager 9 or even the Presto! BizCard. Another one is the Brother Iprintscan, which should let you manage the scanning and reprinting quite easily.
Features for Productivity
The automatic paper size function will work well for mixed documents and will detect automatically the exact size of each of your documents.
A feature I also like to use is the Automatic Rotation of documents. This calculates the exact orientation each document should have and automatically rotates it accordingly.
Let’s say you have documents that are mixed, or you want to scan them in both black and white and color. Or you just need to have the smallest file size.
The first option is to use the automatic color detection, which will calculate which document should be outputted in color and which in bitonal or grayscale.
The second solution is to use different scanning modes combined with the multi stream setting. This creates files that are black and white and another set in color. But this scanner does not feature it, which is really strange.
Last but not least, you can clear the empty images automatically by using a setting which is called blank page detection.
Quality of images
The background removal is a must-have, as this feature calculates and flattens the value of the image background automatically, delivering clean images.
The edges of your images can also be cleaned automatically using a setting that automatically adjusts the margins of your documents so they are flattened with the rest of the background.
I keep mentioning the deskew as it is something of a wonder, but actually it really is. You can’t imagine just how ugly most of the scanned documents would look without using this feature.
Hole punch removal is also nice to have and this Brother ADS 2700 scanner will apply the setting correctly and in a smart way for you to get fewer errors in the images.
Being a CIS scanner and a very cheap one, don’t expect to have a streak correction filter.
Extra Features
You should consider using the manual feeding of the paper, especially when you have older documents or paper that you think is a bit fragile. I also recommend you use this function when scanning with a carrier sheet.
Barcode discovery is great to have for at least two reasons: indexing and document separation.
While document separation also has other alternatives such as white page separation or patch codes, for indexing you can do so much more, especially with QR codes.
The scanner comes with a very nice OCR function which will be able to create searchable PDF or DOC files, but it does not feature a zonal OCR for indexing.
